Venous Phase Diameter of Inferior Venacava on Computed Tomography Axial Section- Predictor of Hypotension in Blunt Abdominal Trauma
نویسنده
چکیده
Diameter of IVC on CT axial section is a important predictor of hypotension in blunt abdominal trauma. CT scan of abdomen is usually requested whenever there is hemoperitoneum/ free fluid noted on FAST USG imaging in emergency department. The diameter of IVC was measured at infrarenal part. In our review of 25 cases of MDCT abdomen in blunt abdominal trauma, 40% of the cases had FIVC and there was moderate degree of hemoperitoneum.25 cases revealed, 56% of splenic injury out of which 10% has FIVC, 25% of liver injury out of which 20% has FIVC and 20% of renal injury out of which 5% has FIVC. In our study we found, venous phase diameter of IVC on CT axial section predicts hypotension in blunt abdominal trauma.

The Value of Urinalysis in Detection of Abdominal Organ Injuries in Children with Hematuria Following Blunt Abdominal Trauma; A Diagnostic Study
Background Currently, almost all patients with probable abdominal injury undergo urinalysis in emergency department (ED). The present survey was conducted with the aim of assessing the diagnostic values of urinalysis compare with abdominal computed tomography (CT) scan with contrast for predicting possible intra-abdominal injuries in children affected by blunt trauma. Materials and Methods: The...
متن کاملPrehospital hypotension in blunt trauma: identifying the "crump factor".
BACKGROUND Trauma activation for prehospital hypotension in blunt trauma is controversial. Some patients subsequently arrive at the trauma center normotensive, but they can still have life-threatening injuries. Admission base deficit (BD)≤-6 correlates with injury severity, transfusion requirement, and mortality. Can admission BD be used to discriminate those severely injured patients who arriv...

STUDY OBJECTIVES We determine the test performance of abdominal ultrasonography for detecting hemoperitoneum in blunt trauma patients with out-of-hospital or emergency department (ED) hypotension. METHODS We reviewed the medical records of all blunt trauma patients hospitalized at a Level I trauma center. Patients were included if they were older than 6 years and had out-of-hospital or ED hyp...
متن کاملIsolated unilateral adrenal gland hemorrhage following motor vehicle collision: a case report and review of the literature
BACKGROUND Adrenal gland trauma is a rare condition that typically stems from blunt force trauma, and is associated with multiple organ injuries. Alternatively, isolated adrenal gland trauma is extremely rare, accounting for only 1.5 to 4% of all adrenal trauma cases. While isolated adrenal trauma is a mostly self-limiting condition, it is potentially life-threatening, representing a significan...
متن کاملAcute post traumatic portal venous thrombosis associated with shattered spleen: A case report
Post-traumatic portal venous thrombosis is a rare event, and is usually seen in association with penetrating injuries. Portal venous thrombosis following blunt abdominal trauma is extremely rare with only few reports in the literature, some associated with underlying coagulation disorders. We report multidetector computed tomography findings in a case of blunt abdominal trauma with otherwise no...
